United Family Services Offers Expanded Foreclosure Mitigation Counseling Services

Monroe, NC, August 7, 2008 – For individuals and families at risk of losing their homes due to foreclosure, help may be just a phone call away. Through a partnership with the North Carolina Housing Finance Agency and the support of a National Foreclosure Mitigation Counseling grant, United Family Services can now provide expanded assistance to homeowners in Union, Cabarrus, Mecklenburg and South Iredell counties. The grant allows for extended services through December 2008.

“Housing foreclosures have been at all-time highs in Union County for the last four to five years,” says Pam Caskey, UFS South Region Director. “Given the current economic conditions and the number of sub-prime loans in our community, the trend is expected to continue. Thanks to this grant, our agency will be able to provide even more housing default and foreclosure mediation and counseling for those at risk of losing their homes.”

Homeowners can call the United Family Services foreclosure hotline at 866.230.0956. This initial telephone session will help people learn about their options through United Family Services’ free financial counseling services.

United Family Services is a HUD Approved Counseling Agency and a member of the National Foundation for Credit Counseling.

United Family Services is a nonprofit United Way member that inspires individuals, families and communities to find solutions that create a better future.
